Starters

I have started to develop some of these sections below is the information contained within the starters section.

I had a little play with the layout and the weight of the text and came up with this, prices are also included.

I also took the heading and put it together with price and information.

Below are a couple of potential layouts i'm having a play with.

I figured that these pages of content could be placed alongside pages of illustration e,g below.

I made a little pdf to show how the pages might look together. I will look into various other experimental layouts over the weekend.

Sections of Menu

After looking at a lot of menus I decided to break my menu down into some potential sections. Below are a few I have explored using Babas Type.

Improved fish

Had a little play with levels etc.

Drawing for menu

I figured it would be nice to have some solid pages within the menu devoted to illustrations. I took a few classic fish used within various dishes and drew them.

PRD // Considerations

Just a few considerations for PRD, early days as of yet.

A bit of interior pictures of fish scattered around the walls.

Webpage / A lot more fitting for the photographic approach.

Sign / outside restaurant.

Just a little more trying out not sure really.

Tried a little boarder.

Had a go at putting this into a composition.

Interior / Graphics

I used my little montage produced on the previous post to make some interior graphics. I'm trying to think of my project as a range I figured graphics could go on the wall, windows, hooks could hang from the ceiling etc.

More / Cover Ideas

After producing the below I went about making more visuals alternatives, I want to make a more bold cover to see what it looks like.

Im just messing with a few outcomes!!!

After / Crit

In the crit today I received some useful pointers regarding the direction of my design work. I received some good advice on how I could improve the cover of my menu and I decided to act on this promptly.

Firstly / on the branding I asked which of the two variations were the best, I was told the now with the hook at the base did the job best. The hook on the T could be accused of looking like an anchor, and looked like a J perhaps.

I agree entirely.

Also / the additional information was better at the base, as apposed to the below

The line at the base should be equal to the text.

Experimenting / imagery

I made the call to broaden my visuals so I began looking at appropriate scenes and ovelayed my branding.
I think this could work well for a website perhaps.

Experimental Layout

On the below I'm putting together image and branding to create some rough layouts t figure if anything feels right. I hope this will conjure up some visuals as well as a greater understanding of scale.
